The weeds
Gospel (Mt 13,24-30) - At that time, Jesus exposed another parable to the crowd, saying: «The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came, sowed weeds among the wheat and went away. Then when the stem grew and bore fruit, the weeds also sprouted. Then the servants went to the master of the house and said to him, “Master, have you not sown good seed in your field? Where does the weeds come from?”. And he answered them: “An enemy has done this!”. And the servants said to him: “Do you want us to go and collect it?”. “No, he replied, so that it doesn't happen that by collecting the weeds you also uproot the wheat with it. Let both grow together until the harvest and at the time of the harvest I will say to the reapers: First gather the weeds and tie them in bundles to burn them; instead put the wheat in my barn".

XVII of ordinary time
Gospel (Jn 6,1-15) - At that time, Jesus crossed to the other shore of the Sea of Galilee, that is, Tiberias, and a large crowd followed him, because they saw the signs that he performed on the sick. Jesus went up the mountain and sat there with his disciples. Easter, the Jewish feast, was near. Then Jesus raised his eyes and saw that a large crowd was coming to him and said to Philip: "Where can we buy bread so that these people can eat?". He said this to test him; in fact he knew what he was about to do. Philip replied to him: "Two hundred denarii of bread are not enough even for everyone to receive a piece." Then one of his disciples, Andrew, brother of Simon Peter, said to him: «There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish; but what is this for so many people?”. Jesus replied: "Make them sit down." There was a lot of grass in that place. So they sat down, and there were about five thousand men. Then Jesus took the loaves and, after giving thanks, gave them to…

Martha, Mary and Lazarus
Gospel (Lk 10,38-42) - At that time, while they were traveling, Jesus entered a village and a woman named Martha hosted him. She had a sister, named Mary, who, sitting at the feet of the Lord, listened to her word. Marta, on the other hand, was distracted by her many services. She then came forward and said: «Lord, don't you care at all that my sister left me alone to serve? So tell her to help me." But the Lord answered her: «Martha, Martha, you worry and worry about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen the best part of herself, which will not be taken away from her."

Explanation of the parable of the weeds
Gospel (Mt 13,36-43) - At that time, Jesus dismissed the crowd and entered the house; his disciples approached him to say: «Explain to us the parable of the weeds in the field». And he replied: «He who sows the good seed is the Son of man. The field is the world and the good seed are the children of the Kingdom. The weeds are the children of the Evil One and the enemy who sowed them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the world and the reapers are the angels. »Therefore just as weeds are gathered and burned in the fire, so will it be at the end of the world. The Son of Man will send his angels, who will gather from his kingdom all the sins and all those who commit iniquity and will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine like the sun in their Father's kingdom. Whoever has ears, listen!

Parables of the treasure and the pearl
Gospel (Mt 13,44-46) - At that time Jesus said to his disciples: «The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field; a man finds it and hides it; then he goes, full of joy, sells all his possessions and buys that field. »The kingdom of heaven is also like a merchant who goes in search of precious pearls; having found a pearl of great value, he goes, sells all his possessions and buys it."
