If anyone loves me he will keep my word

Gospel (Mt 11,25-30) - At that time Jesus said: «I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned and have revealed them to little ones. Yes, O Father, because you have decided so in your benevolence. Everything has been given to me by my Father; no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal him. »Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, who am meek and humble of heart, and you will find refreshment for your life. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

The commentary on the Gospel by Monsignor Vincenzo Paglia

The Gospel we heard continues Jesus' farewell speech to his disciples. He is about to leave them, but the love he has for them never ends. He says to them, “Whoever receives my commandments and keeps them, he is the one who loves me.” It is a statement that might seem obvious: in fact, following someone's teachings is generally a sign of esteem and appreciation. However, Jesus underlines that to live the Gospel, formal respect is not enough, there is a need to involve oneself with one's whole life. And this requires the love that Jesus speaks of. The Gospel, which contains the love of Jesus as if in a treasure chest, does not propose one of the many ideologies that from time to time guide the behavior of men. The Gospel contains the very love of Jesus. In fact, this love is not only the reason for observing the commandments, but the very substance of the commandments. Being Christian does not mean belonging to a civilization or culture, to a club or to any non-governmental organization however worthy. The Gospel asks us to link our lives to Jesus. The Old Testament already noted this in relation to wisdom: "Wisdom is splendid and does not fade, it is easily seen by those who love it and it is found by those who seek it Love for her is observance of her laws" (6,12.18). Jesus continues by saying that love also attracts the heart of the Father who is in heaven and he himself will manifest himself to the one who loves him. It is the spiritual experience that each believer is called to live. The apostle Judas, one of the twelve, surname Thaddeus, asks him to reveal himself to everyone and in a conspicuous way. Poor Judas who still thinks with common messianic categories! Jesus does not directly answer this Judas' question, but takes the opportunity to clarify what it means to see him after the resurrection: love pushes him to put the Gospel into practice and the disciple becomes the home of Jesus and the Father: "If anyone he loves, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him." If love is missing, the Gospel will be a silent word and men will find themselves alone with themselves, far from God, and at the mercy of the evil and violent force of evil. Jesus warns the disciples of this danger and promises them the Comforter. The Father himself will pour it into their hearts. The Spirit will accompany them throughout history, teaching them everything and remembering the words of Jesus which are the precious legacy to be transmitted from generation to generation. Through the action of the Spirit who helps us to understand the Gospel ever more deeply, the Lord continues to be present among us and to work for the good of humanity.
